Holy mother of...
Just had to share my very cool weekend which I basically consider 'training for my holiday'. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
On saturday was the 'Food Show' basically a huge expo for just about everybody in the food and beverage industry. www.foodshow.co.nz
SO basically anyone who's anyone with some sort of food or drink related product to sell is there trying to show you what they've got and get you to try it out. Do you know what this means? It means you basically walk from stand to stand eating or drinking samples of whatever they've got. They also have good show specials and you get loads of freebies. Good grief I was barely an 8th of the way around and starting to feel full.
My freestuff total, 8 mini packs of cereal, 4 kinds of lollies/choc, 16 teabags/coffee sachets, 4 snacks/biccie type things, 2 chilli sauce sachets, small pack of pasta, 2 little soup packs, 2 brekkie bars, and 2 carrots(yeah weird I know).
I went with Kathryn who is my holiday partner in crime [img]graemlins/devil.gif[/img] We got there at 10am and basically didn't leave until 5pm, there was so much stuff to checkout and buy.
At 10.30am we discovered the National drink of Brazil. Caiparinhas- containing crushed lime, sugar and Cuchaca. Hehe it seemed like such a great idea at the time boozing at 10 in the morning but not such a good idea at 8am on Monday morning (of course this feeling was compounded by my sunday adventures)
My sunday adventure involved sleeping in until 11 following my exhausting walking,eating,drinking day on saturday.
And then it was holiday research time [img]wink.gif[/img] .
Kathryn is absolutely obsessed with desert and cacti and so we both signed up for a special educational dinner at The Mexican Cafe

As research (of course) we attended the TREAT (Tequila Re-Education & Appreciation Trust) dinner which started at 2pm and cost us NZ$75 each.
This involved ...well... drinking at least a couple of Margaritas followed by a 3 course traditional South Amercan meal accompanied by 6 tastings (1/3 -1/2 shots) of different tequila and some education on how and where its made and the differences between them. They were all top end tequilas, the first 3 were apparently about NZ$ 90-100 a bottle and the last 3 were in the $200 bottle range. 2 of the last 3 would normally cost $15 for a shot and the last one (of which I also drank Kathryn's as she'd run out of stamina) came in at $26 a shot. This went on until about 5.45pm when we sorta crawled down the road to Borders bookstore and found a quiet corner to fall asleep in before catching the bus home. (I am so glad I took the bus or I would still be asleep in a corner at Borders.)
So I have to say that today was just a little bit challenging but it was indeed probably good holiday training as I believe we are going to be eating our way around NY for 3 days (including the Peanut Butter shop with Rich) in between shopping of course.
I am definitely spending the week detoxing, I do not want to even smell alcohol.

I can't drink tequila. Even Petrone and Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo, which are supposedly good, do not agree with me. My friends tried to make me drink some over the weekend. I think they were drinking sunrises. I took one sip and about spit it back out. :P

I remember last time I got totally stoned, before meeting sarabiga, someone took a photo of me, and I don't remember it happened. I was striking the pose, and i don't remember they took the photo.
I had to be outta my shoes...

Impressive... all of it I mean, the drinking and the memory of it seeming so crisp clear, least that how it feels reading the post.
Heh, I need a food expo like that when I was out living on my own for college. It would be nice to go somewhere for a day and save money on food just sampling everything.
Sounds like a great weekend though... Hell I'd bet it would be a blast to hang out with you one of these days.

Definitely! Well I gotta make up for my kind of workaholic lifestyle lately.
